Hi everyone, here is a short (full of “ums”) video I made for people who wonder what the different between acrylic and gel nails are and what one’s to choose.
Regardless of Gel or Acrylic nails definitely make sure you are going to a salon with qualified nail technicians
Acrylic Pros;
Strong and sturdy
Look nice when they’re first done
Nail polish sticks to them really well
Cons;
They smell horrid
They grow out and look horrible without a refill
Some nail salons use acrylic which is actually illegal (in australia) and is prone to giving you fungus and other infections
Acrylic is damaging to the nail bed and when taken off you will have damaged nails underneath no matter how careful you are due to how they are put on to begin with (buffing, cuticles being cut etc)
They are known to yellow
They are usually at least 2cm thick and look ridiculous!!!!! (the worst con in my opinion)
Gel Pros;
Hardly and scent at all (mild soy sauce perhaps)
SUPER THIN!! can’t even notice they’re on there
REALLY REALLY SHINY!
Not damaging to the nail, if done properly no buffing of the nail is necessary, the ingredients in the gel is designed to strengthen your nails
My gel nails (bio sculpture) can only be done by technicians who have completed the bio sculpture course, they are the only ones with a license to purchase their products
You can wait longer between refills as the gel is applied thin and is less noticeable
Gel Cons;
Nothing.. yet
Stay tuned, please correct any incorrect info and, thanks for watching
Thankyou to the salon I went to, Nuleaf at West Lakes Shore in Adelaide South Australia, who in no-way asked/reimbursed me to do this video and will probably ask me to remove it when they see how awful it is
http://www.biosculpture.com.au for the sort of nails I have
I got a lot of questions on how i remove my “fake nails” and the best way to do it without hurting yourself (lol). So these are the 2 different pain-free methods i use to remove my artificial nails.
Hope you found this video helpful
Method #1:
Bowl of warm-to-hot water
Ziploc Bag
Pure Acetone (NOT Nail Polish Remover)
Method #2:
Tin foil
Pure Acetone OR Artificial Nail Remover solution
Cotton balls
Additional Helpful Tools:
cuticle pusher/orange stick
nail file (med/coarse grit)
nail drill (OPTIONAL, just helpful)
buffing block
cuticle oil
nail strengthener(s)
