What’s a good nail polish that wont chip the day after my manicure?

Saturday, September 25th, 2010

I’m so sick of using the nail polish at the nail salon; they water it down and it makes my manicure chip within 2 days.

Can anyone suggest a good nail polish brand that will last?

OPI is good, along with Fingerpaints, Savvy, Orly, Rush, and Nina Ultra Pro.

These are the brands that they use in the salons. You can buy them in the salons for 8 or 9 dollars, or you can go to Sally Beauty Supply and buy it for like 5 dollars. Sally is the greatest, they have all the stuff that the pros use.

Is "Beauty Secrets" for nails a good acrylic? How do I tell which acrylics will yellow?

Saturday, September 25th, 2010

I bought a cheap kit and gave myself acrylic nails. The nails turned yellow. I have learned that cheap acrylic such as Kiss turns yellow, so I want to use better acrylic from now on.

I bought "Beauty Secrets" at Sally’s. Is that a good acrylic? How do I tell which acrylics will yellow and which ones won’t?

I agree with the last answer for the most part. I’m a licensed nail tech and yeah, she’s right. Even some of the professional only acrylic (and gel) product lines are crappy. Anyway…
I have seen ‘Beauty Secrets’ products in Sally’s but I was not impressed with them for some reason. I don’t recall why but they just didn’t seem like a very good brand. But then again, I could be wrong. It might work just fine for your needs. Try it for a while and see if you like it?
There is one brand they sell at Sally’s that I’ve gotten samples of from various trade shows I go to and that is A.S.P. (Aspire?) which works fairly well. It’s about the best you can get without a license but it is a bit pricey. It costs about the same as many professional acrylic products. I think they sell trial size kits in the $15-$25 range. Just a thought!
Best wishes

How do you stop a nail biting habit?

Saturday, September 25th, 2010

I’m 13 years old and I’ve been biting my nails for forever! I’ve tryed everything to stop! Fake nails, that weird nail polish all types of things! Any other good ways how I can officially stop this horrible grossssss habit? Thanks

paint them, then just bit the paint off
or get acrylic nails put on

any tips on how to grow nails. im trying to stop biting mine and would love long nails!?

Saturday, September 25th, 2010

First of all, in order to grow long nails you must quit biting them. There is a fingernail polish that you paint your nails with and tastes nasty when your finger goes in your mouth… it helps with stopping biting your nails.
Second… nails take a while to grow in. Take some multivitamins and file your nails so they look nice. Nails that have been bitten are usually jagged and uneven looking.
Third… I am sure there are products at the store that help with growing nails. If you are not sure what product is best, go get a manicure and ask the manicurist what would be the best way to grow nails.
Fourth… be patient. This takes time, but you will eventually have nice long nails.
Good luck..

Beauty nails..?

I have very kiddish nails there are small and quite wide. They are also concidered tiny nails. I was wondering what you guys used to make ur nails look like this(picture-below) or if theres any special tool you use. tell me where to buy it too. thx.

or

also how would u shape them. I think the top of my nails are fine…but if i wanted the square style of nails how would i make my nails grow like that. My cuticuls are very close in which makes my nails very tiny. I was wondering how i could make my cuticul round to fit the shape of my nail. Also since my nails are quite wide how would i make it skinnier?

Your best bet would be to start off by caring for your nails.
Buy a nail creme to strengthen your nails and let them grow a little bit.

THEN go to a manicurist and ask them to shape your nails how you want it (either in an oval shape or square shape) they’ll trim them then shape them using an emery board (nail file). Probably also buff them and paint them if that’s what you’ve asked for.

Watch how the manicurist does it and buy yourself an emery board. It’s not hard, you just have to file the nail until you get the shape you want. It might take a while to achieve but you’ll get there.

What types of nails would you use on outdoor cedar trim?

I want like a finishing nail since I don’t have a nailer but can you get them made of stainless steel?

yes you can, go check your local hardware store, and if you tell them the dimensions and the exact materials they will point you to your best choice for the project. but stainless steel, drywall/ finishing nails are probably your best bet
